The victims, Commander G. D. Janaka Priyantha (44) of Horana and Lieutenant Commander D. They were pronounced dead on admission to the Puttalam Hospital.

Police spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardana told The Island that the victims had been travelling to Colombo from Punewa Navy camp around 2.20 a.m. in a car when the mishap occurred.
