By Cyril Wimalasurendre

KANDY – Retired High Court Judge P. B. Warawewe, contesting the Central Provincial Council election on the UNP ticket, told the media yesterday that a group of about 20 persons had attempted to abduct one of his supporters at Nawalapitiya on Friday (Aug. 30).

A gang of about twenty surrounded his supporter, when he got off the car, driven by him (Warawewa), at Nawalapitiya and made an attempt to relieve the supporter of his mobile phone and take him into their custody. But his supporter, Sajaya, escaped into a bank, Warawewa said.

A complaint was lodged with the Nawalapitiya police and the elections department too, was informed, he added.
