Ranil calls on Malwatte prelate

 United National Party (UNP) and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, on Monday, called on the Mahanayake of Malwatte, Most Ven. Tibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera.

The UNP leader and the prelate shared views on the current situation pertaining to the provincial council elections and the general political situation in the country, according to sources.

The meeting was not open to the media.

Kandy district MP Lakshamn Kiriella told the media that while discussing the country’s present situation, views had been expressed on the Rathupaswala shooting incident.

Kiriella said that there were so many, including those in air-conditioned rooms, who took the responsibility for the killing of Prabhakaran, but there was none to take the responsibility for the shooting at Rathupaswala.

Party General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, former Mayor and Kandy Municipal Council Member Raja Pushpakumara and former Parliamentarian Sagala Ratnayake accompanied the UNP leader.
