By Madura Ranwala

Police have launched a special investigation into Saturday (Sept. 28) morning’s abduction of Colombo District Judge B. R. Somasinghe’s 15-year-old son Sithijeya.

Police spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardana told The Island that the police had already recorded statements from eye witnesses and were going through the footage recorded on a CCTV camera fixed to a shop near the bus stand at Rawattawatta, where the boy had been waiting for a bus to travel to his tuition class.

He said that the police hoped to trace the abductors and vehicle through the footage.

The victim was later dropped at Mulligoda in Wadduwa.

The victim had told the Moratuwa police that he fell unconscious when the four persons, including the driver sprayed a chemical on shutters of the vehicle after pushing him into it.

He also had told police that he was unharmed.
