Nat. Health bill early next year

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena told Parliament yesterday that a bill to formulate a national health policy would be presented to the House early next year.

The Minister said that 99 percent of the preparatory work on the bill had been finalised and only few matters including translating it into the Tamil language, remained to be done.

The ministry and the Legal Draftsman’s Department were attending to the task of completing the work, he said.

Minister Sirisena said the plans to control the price for pharmaceuticals would be implemented from next month. A programme had been launched by the Ministries of Health and Cooperatives and Internal Trades to control drug prices, the minister said. (SI)
