SAARC chiefs of public and civil service commissions in Colombo

The 3rd Meeting of the Chiefs of Public/ Civil Service Commissions of SAARC Member States hosted by the Public Service Commission of Sri Lanka is scheduled to be held in Colombo from today (10) to Sunday (12) in Colombo, a press release issued by the Public Service Commission said.

The Chairmen and Secretaries of the Public/ Civil Service Commissions of all SAARC Member States will attend the said meeting. The Inauguration of this event will be held today at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.

The Conference of the Chiefs of Public/ Civil Service Commissions of SAARC Member States was started as a regional corporation initiative and exchange program to adopt practices of good governance, ensuring the path of member countries towards development.

For the first time in Sri Lanka, such important diplomatic meeting in relation to the Public Service is to be held grabbing the regions’ fullest attention. It is a great privilege to Sri Lanka, to be the host of this special event, which will create a fine platform for a broad dialogue in relation to development of public administration of SAARC member states. The first meeting of the Chiefs of Public/ Civil Service Commissions was held in India, 2010 and the second meeting was in Pakistan, 2012.

The Public Service Commission of Sri Lanka has decided to host this program in a more fruitful manner including a series of events in the lead up to the conference in order to improve the public administration in the country and also to contribute causing a snowballing effect to the region through developing a broad dialogue over similarity and dissimilarity including their operational status and challenges faced by them so as to arrive at possible best practices.
