Court of Appeal President dead

President of the Court of Appeal Justice S. Sriskandaraja died yesterday afternoon at his residence in Shrubbery Gardens, Bambalapitiya after ailing for some time.

Soon after returning from the Commonwealth Judges’ Conference in England last September, he was admitted to a private hospital in Colombo with a brain ailment.

A native of Jaffna, Sriskandaraja was promoted to the judiciary in 1998, having risen to the rank of Senior State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Department. His first judicial appointment was as High Court Judge Vavuniya.
