Health Ministry blacklists defaulting contractors

The Health Ministry has blacklisted contractors who had undertaken to construct Angoda new drug store, nine-storeyed building at Kalubowila Teaching hospital, some complexes at Kandy Teaching hospital from undertaking any further contracts, Minister Maithripala Sirisena disclosed yesterday.


Although the construction of the Angoda new drug store should have been completed last year, due to constant delay the construction was delayed. He had instructed the authorities to handover the rest of the construction process to the engineering section of the Ministry. At the same time he had also instructed to prepare an estimate on total development in the vicinity of the store, he said as he inspected the Angoda new drug store yesterday.


Minister Sirisena added that he wanted a complete list of the contractors who were unduly delaying the completion of their contracts.
