Rajarata Uni to hold first ever All Faculty Research Sessions

The Rajarata University will hold its first ever All Faculty Research Sessions on Thursday (28).

The University held earlier Research sessions at the faculty level. Research papers were limited in number and the audiences small.

The research sessions will be held at the faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences will the attendance of scientists, academics and researchers from all the faculties of the university.

The chief guest at the inaugural symposium is Prof. K. A. Nandasena, Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University. Prof. Nimal Gunatilaka, a renowned geneticist and tropical Forest Geologist of the Department of the Department of Botany of the Faculty of Science of University of Peradeniya, will be the guest of honour. He will deliver the keynote address according to the Chairman of the organizing committee, Professor D. J. Weligama, Faculty Medicine and Allied sciences.

Prof. Weligama said that about 50 papers would be presented at the symposium. The papers will cover an array of disciplines taught at the five faculties of the university.

Prof. Weligama further said that one of the aims of the symposium was to bring together researchers from various disciplines to promote interaction and multi disciplinary approach to present day problems.

Prof. Weligama is of the opinion that this year’s symposium would create a new research culture that would bring together researchers from different disciplines to work together to find solutions to problems that are endemic to the North Central Province.
