Hospital worker in hot water over indecent proposal

A minor employee attached to the Castle Street Maternity hospital was interdicted yesterday (07) by Health Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka for allegedly asking a female intern to have sex with him on Thursday. The interdiction took place following a complaint to the Castle Street hospital Director Dr. K.W. Kumarasiri, the Health Ministry said.


The Health Ministry media spokesman told The Island the hospital Director had brought the incident to the notice of Health Secretary Dr. Jayathilaka, who interdicted the minor employee immediately until the conclusion of the probe. Health Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka, contacted for comment, said that he had instructed the Health Ministry Investigation Unit to conduct a full inquiry into the incident.

Dr. Navin de Soyza asked to comment on the incident said that the GMOA wanted to maintain discipline in hospitals at all times. The minor employee was not supposed to behave like a mad man. It was a case of breach of discipline by the labourer.
