Sanjeewa Kaviratne dead

KANDY – UNP Central Provincial Council Member Sanjeewa Kaviratne passed away at the Kandy General Hospital yesterday (16).

Kaviratne (44) was a father of two children.

He was first elected to the Central Provincial Council from the Matale district at the 1991 Provincial Council Election.

Later he represented Matale district in Parliament from 2001 to 2003.

He was subsequently re-elected to the Central Provincial Council and Continued to be a member of the CPC representing the Matale district till his death.

He was the son of late state Minister P. B. Kaviratne of Matale.

Kaviratne was undergoing treatment for a heart ailment at the ICU of the Kandy General Hospital when he expired.

His remains lie at his residence at Kambiadiya, Rattota in Matale.
